Preparation Instructions
Our proprietary Fog Pods create BILLIONS of non-toxic droplets of Botanical Disinfectant EVERY SECOND….. this Dry Fog can stay AIRBORNE FOR MINUTES TO EVEN HOURS…. killing 99.999% of mold spores, bacteria, viruses and fungi on surfaces, in the air…every critical “nook & cranny”!!!
It is preferred that your home be vacant during the time of the Dry Fog process, so please plan ahead of time for you, your family and pets to be away during the treatment (If this is not possible, we will do our best to find a solution).
Instructions
- Please ensure that any underlying leaks and/or moisture issues that are the cause of your mold and/or bacteria problems are repaired prior to and that all materials are dry.
- We recommend that you buy a new furnace filter. Our technicians will remove your old filter prior to treatment and having a new one to replace it is ideal.
- Open all closet doors and drawers a little, including kitchen, bedroom and bathroom cabinets and drawers. Also prop open any plastic storage bins as this allows for the fog to easily treat the contents of those spaces. For example, if your clothes are holding mold spores and even mold growth, our process safely treats the house itself and the contents. One of the many benefits that other mold remediation treatment cannot provide but we can.
- While not necessary, we recommend stripping your beds, as this allows for easier penetration of the fog into your mattresses.
- Wipe down/clean your window tracks, sills and any other dust collecting surfaces.
- Clear your windowsills and raise blinds. Any items normally housed on those surfaces you should be temporarily relocate to somewhere else nearby. Mold is often in this area, which is the reason we focus so much on window tracks and sills.
- Sometimes a bit of a mess is a good thing. You do not have to put the kids toys away, leave them laying around so they are easily treated for bacteria and viruses.
- Turn up the heat. Ensure the entire house is warm. This will also lower the relative humidity which is preferable.
- Ensure all your windows are closed.
- We all have “junk rooms” in our house. There is no need to tidy or organise, we have seen it all and we have the same ourselves!!! However, we do recommend moving boxes stacked against walls and clutter in general, as it encourages mold growth by inhibiting air flow and while our fog is incredibly successful at getting into everything porous and every critical nook & cranny, plastic bins stacked up against drywall for instance, will impede the fog of course. So please keep this in mind in general when prepping your home for our FogFresh treatment.
- We recommend that you put fresh food, fruits, and vegetables in the fridge or in storage containers. However, our Botanical Dry Fog Disinfectant is Health Canada and U.S. FDA rated safe for food contact, so no worries if you need to leave anything out.
- The fog can set off smoke alarms, so please disable any alarm systems and smoke alarms.
After your free Consultation and Quotation, the following might also be suggested in certain circumstances for optimum results:
- If your home is always hovering on the high side with relative humidity? We suggest the elimination of any standing water. Make sure all sinks are clear of any dishes holding standing water, plant overflow drip trays are dry, essential oil diffusers are OFF and not holding water, vases holding flowers/water are relocated to the outdoors temporarily. Standing water in these items increases the relative humidity in the home.
- We also might recommend running a dehumidifier for a few days if you have one. Getting as much moisture out of the air in your home is helpful. While we need your home to be dry at the time of treatment, you will also need to stay on top of this in future if it is an issue that cannot be resolved otherwise. For instance, if upgrading your windows is not possible and you often find condensation on them, you will need to mitigate that situation with dehumidification, air circulation (to encourage evaporation) and consistent heating of the space.
